Is the ExcelForum forum defunct?

could I suggest trying a different browser like FireFox or Safari then to see if that might allow you to visit/access the site. I've just visited and accessed the site.

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
I just tried to get into that forum on my tablet using both Microsoft Edge and also whatever the default browser is on Android devices... both returned the bad gateway error... so it is definitely not a setting gone bad on my PC. Time to go to sleep for the night... I check for any more replies when I get up.

1. Have you tried logging in in incognito mode?
2. Try disabling the VPN completely and then accessing the forum.

From info I gathered at EF, their tech people are working on it, and it seems to be only affecting people in North America. So if it's not solved yet perhaps use a European server on your VPN?

Ah, so the problem is on ExcelForum's side... this is good to know. And it is also good to know they are working on fixing the problem. Thank you so much for telling me this. I am going to mark your reply as the Answer. As for changing the server for my VPN... I am not sure how to do that, so I'll have to check with Norton (my VPN provider) to see how to do it (I looked at my VPN settings but did not see a way to force the VPN server). Thanks again for your reply.

Rick,
I just logged into the EF site and there appears to be no error on my side. I'll let Ford and Jeff know of this issue you are having and see if they can get Tech Team to help. They may contact you via email which is available to them. I wonder if your IP address has been erroneously blocked. I suggested that they look at that as an issue.

Thanks Alan... if you look at @arthurbr's reply, they appear to be aware of the problem and are trying to fix it. Although your contacting them to let them know I am still having a problem (here in the US), it might be useful information for them.

I am an Admin on Excel Forum. I have been getting the Gateway Error 502 myself since yesterday about 1400 GMT (8:00 AM EDT). I reported it to the tech team at that time. At 0741 GMT today (1:41 AM EDT) they reported it was fixed, but it is not. I tried accessing it using a VPN and was successful, although I was using a free VPN that doesn't allow me to choose a server so I'm not sure where it was connecting from, but probably outside the U.S. I also tried using my mobile phone through mobile network, and my daughter 20 miles away from me, all getting the same error.

Catch-22. I can't reach the site myself so do not have access to email addresses at this time.

Ford has been having a difficult recovery from shoulder surgery and is off work for several weeks. I don't think he's spending a lot time on the forum right now.
