From time to time, the status bar in excel 2010 is not showing (I don't mean the information is not showing, I mean the bar is not there at all). In previous versions I would go to view>status bar...

how do I get the status bar back in excel 2010?

Thanks!

sorry, but does not seem to work.

In the spreadsheet I press ALT+F8

Macro box appears:
Name of Macro: ResetStatusBar

If I click on edit I can see the code which you provided.
(just to check that it looks ok)

I click on run and wait? nothing seems to happen.

any other suggestions welcome? thank you

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Is the application window maximized? If you close Excel, then hold down the Ctrl key and start Excel and answer Yes to the prompt to open in Safe mode, is the statusbar visible?

Are you in full screen mode?

Can you try restarting Excel in normal mode (i.e. not Safe mode) and then disabling all your addins one by one? (the only other thing I can think of is a Group Policy setting but that would be very strange!)

I will try this.

I have to go out for a few hours now so it will be a while before I reply.

I am a sole trader therefore no group policy (fyi)

thank you for your help and time

Bob,

This thread is discussing the disappearance of the status bar, not of the worksheet tabs. The steps you outline are to toggle visibility of the worksheet tabs that run across the bottom of a workbook window (which may or may not be directly above the status bar, depending on the arrangement of the workbook window(s)).

As Rory indicates, in cases where there status bar's visibility has been set to false, one must reset that using code. AFAIK, there is no user interface option to toggle status bar visibility.

Regards,
