Why excel just have 65536 lines

Hi ,

i would like to know why does excel have only 65536 , and how can i use more than 65536, i hear about a Vba Spread sheet with more than 65536

Thanks a lot for your responses , and for the link, the reason why i wanna use excel is because , i have lot of information some with more than 65536 rows , but a gonna use a text aplicacion for make several of sheets(maybe 3 or 5 ) and open with excel .

Oh how times have changed. 'Probably' the limit for ever but not 'actually' (bit like Carlsberg really). They're up to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns now. Hey, that's practically the same as Quattro Pro was at ten years ago (and I remembered the correct spelling. Bonus!).

256 columns and 65536 rows is the limit and probably will be for ever since a lot of the code in Excel would probably blow up if these were increased.

You can get Quattra Pro which has a million rows and 16000 some odd columns or you can use Access and import smaller amounts of data into Excel.
