Now & then i am unable to open an excel file.
The majority of my files are extension type .xlsm

I have them on my taskbar but clicking them does nothing.
I have them on my desktop but even right clicking them & selecting open also does nothing.

Ive look at the assigned app that opens then & excel is selected.

Any issues that you are aware of as im having to switch off pc then restart it for them to then open again

Select windows icon,go through list & select Excel when once opened i see previous files that had recently been used.

How can i find out why this is happening as its a pin having to restart Pc

You probably don't need to restart your PC, when Excel is supposed to be closed.... go to Task Manager, scroll through to see if Excel is in the processes, if it is right click it and click End Task.

Then try opening your Excel

I could only take a screenshot with my phone when i did CTRL ALT DELETE
See attached for what i could see

I did this when i was unable to open anything so probably why Excel isnt shown so if i read your message correct i should be selecting Excel then closing it, but the issue is opening it

Once you End Task in Task Manager (if Excel is there when you scroll through the list where at the moment your image is only showing the A's) then you should be able to open your Excel

With NO excel files open i do ALT CTRL DELETE & select task manager
Under APPS there is no excel.
Under BACKGROUND PROCESSES there is no excel.

So as a text i open an excel file & do the same.
Now under APPS i see excel
Under BACKGROUND PROCESSES there is no excel

So basically i did this when i had the issue to try & end it but excel was in either to end

If it isn't in there under Apps or Background processes when you can't open Excel then the previous processes not completing isn't your issue

I can't advise as when I have had any issues opening Excel it has always been in Task Manager and so I have had no reason to try anything else
