Is there anyway (In Excel or Word I guess) to make those signs that have 10-15 phones numbers at the bottom? The phone numbers generally go vertical instead of left to right. After you print it out, you cut between each phone number allowing people or want your services to "tear off" the phone number.

Well there is a way to insert a carriage return, ALT+RETURN.:)

As to having 2 phone numbers side by side I think I'll need to look into that.

Do they actually need to be in the same cell?

No No - you didn't understand me. Inserting a CR is HOW to put the 2 phone numbers side by side. It worked. Thanks.

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop

Actually it is not working just yet. The problem is that, while it looks fine on the screen, when it prints, the numbers "wrap" - they are next to each other, but it comes out with 4 (not 2) and uneven columns. Does anyone have any idea what I need to change?

Microsoft Publisher. It is part of the Office Suite. It comes with Office Professional and can also be purchased separately. If you have it, check out the templates on Office Online. They have exactly what you're asking for.

Publisher is just another MS application that some might have/use.:)

It could probably be used for what you want but then again you should be able to do what you want with Excel or Word.

The printing issue might be to do with your print setup.:)

Let me state again though, use the right tool for the right job. If you're going to hammer a nail, use a hammer, not a shovel. Of course it can be done though. ;-)

Huh! Weird.
The HTML option flipped it back to horizontal, but on my spreadsheet, it is vertical, and side by side, as you requested.

I widened the row, used alt + enter, and then rotated the text.

Cool feature for labeling columns, when multiple data entries are required. I could put an employees name, clock number, date of hire, all in one neat cell.

Thanks for the alt enter tip.

Gene,

Worked for me fine. Printed vertically with two lines with the break where it is supposed to be. Maybe try extending the row height?

If, as Norie suggested, it is a printing issue, it could take days (or never). I decided to print it out without it and use pen to do the phone numbers.
