Remove leading and trailing spaces keeping multiple spaces between words intact

How can I remove leading and trailing spaces keeping multiple spaces between words intact? I notice the TRIM function removes multiple spaces between words .
 
Hi all, I have followed Peter's instructions and this time it works. I must have missed something out.

Thanks all for your help and patience. It has saved me hours of work .

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
The error values in column E suggest that you don't yet have all available functions. I did preface that formula suggestion with

Ah, I see the following has been resolved. (y)
The error values in column C seem to indicate that you have not followed the numbered steps listed in post #6 carefully. I suggest that you go back through those steps again.


If you may post the actual formulae you have posted to identify where the challenge could be..
Hasn't that already been done?
