I hope this is the place for this problem.

I am having trouble with the Excel Questions forum. Every time I log on to mrexcel.com then click the Message board, then Excel Questions, theses are the problems I encounter:

1. I am on the current date for the board, but I am not logged on. So I click on Log In, it returns me to the screen to pick the Excel Q's again.

2. I click Excel Q's again and it brings me to the board and, now I am logged in, but now the starting date for page one is Jun 24. And the strange thing is the first (paticipant) (user) Topic is one that jindon and I worked on for some time but finished on Jun 24. Liked provided:
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=217678

3. The only way I can get back to the current date is to go to the lower right corner and choose "Jump to: Excel Q's

4. During no. 1 above, if I do not log in (I'm on current date) and click on page 2, I go to Jun 24 again, and this is page 1.

This is only happening on my home PC, at work all day it does not happen, I have no problems at all with viewing from current day and choosing page 2 or 3, or whatever.

I have checked my profiles and even changed my e-mails from home & work ~ no help. I first noticed this problem a couple of days ago, but didn't address it because I thought it might "go away".

Don't know if the link I provided above has anything to do with it, (I did go into Watched Topics & deleted it) If you, as the experts, think that deleting it permantly will help, go ahead, I have that problem solved thanks to jindon.

I'm at a lost because the weekends is where I do most of my research & posting.

Thanks

I have monitored my problem for the last two hours.

If I click on page two, I will go to Jun 24 as being page 1,with my topic with jindon as stated above.

If I click on page 3, I will go to the current dates of what should be page 2. I kept an eye on the last post of page one, and when I clicked page 3 the last post of page 1 was the first post of page 3 after a new post was entered on page 1.

EDIT: (just found out) From page 3, if I go back to page 1, I'm back to Jun 24.

I'm not the expert, but I think the topic (link above) is the culprit.

Thanks

It probably got nothing to do with it but check in your Browser

If you are using Internet Explorer [should be something similar if other browser] under

tools
Internet Options
General
Temporary Internet Files
Settings

Check under there that you have
under Check for new version of the page
check automaticly [if this isn't the case]

It doesn't cost anything to try that, if not another idea,

If not while you are using Mr Excel at home you could first log you out of Mr Excel .com then

When you enter username and password, select login automaticly and see if it does any difference

Hello again,

I answer your question a little to fast and that was an error.

After thinking a little bit deeper of course I will try to explain.

When you select a post to view, the server of Mr Excel .com will send back the desire page in the case of your shortcut, it will send back this page:

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=217678&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=10

Meaning this post as a number of 217678 in the database
it will start displaying the first post you posted and page 2,3,4.....9
will displayed answers that the post received in an ascendant date order
but meaning that page 1 will be the first post and page 9 will represent
the most recent post

So by clicking next, next you just browser though the answers to the post.

For example if you type this in you browserL:
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=56653

it will bring you to a topic that has 3 pages of answers and comments starting from the oldest page 1 to newest page 3 as the database probably add to the end.

If you want to go to excel directly, maybe put this shortcut as your home page so when you are lost in a conversation or post you can quickly go back to the main page of the forum

Regards and sorry for the previous post

Thanks Francoise for the reply,

I have tried logging on to mrexcell.com using both Internet Explorer & MSN. Same trouble with both. And I also turn off my PC daily.

I have also done every suggestion you requested in both of your post above. Still have the problem.

http://www.mrexcel.com/ Has always been my Home page.

Any other ideas??

Hello again,

After you logging and click on the Excel questions and are on the page that display jindon and your last topic could you please look at the address in the address bar and post it

Regards
Francoise

Something that come up to my attention is when you are on the main page forum the address is :

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewforum.php?f=2

Now on the left of the page there is 3 options:

Mark all topics read
View your posts in this forum
View unanswered posts in this forum

Somehow what happening to you [don't ask me how it happened], it seems that you may be stuck on the second option [if the post with Jindon was your last post to the board]

Sunyland, answer to you post.

This is the URL that comes up after I click on Excell Q's that show's the Jun 24 date.
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=04c711a098941062ffc35808eef98618

From URL http://www.mrexcel.com/ , I click on Message Board and go to the forum options URL http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/

From here I am not logged in. So I click on LOG IN and it returns me to

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/index.php Where now I am logged in without having to go to the log in screen. I am now at the screen to choose which forum I want. I notice on this screen that the "last post" of Excel Q's is dated with the current date.

Now I click on Excel Q's and I am brought to the Jun 24 date as explained above. And by the way, Jindon was the last post to this topic, not me.

Thank you very much trying to solve this.

On last suggestion and then if I was you I will ask the webmaster

1)Log in
2) select the Forum Excel Questions where you say the date showing for the last post is today date.
3) Once you are on this page wich is the 24
4) Refresh your browser by clicking the arrow refresh and see if the date of the post changes.

If it doesn't, is your address in the toolbar as:
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewforum.php?f=2
or something else.

I am not giving up as yet
Sorry, I don't mean to be insisting

Hello,

So you can't get to this post?

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?p=1049843#1049843

That's the last post in the thread.

If I click page #2 in the bottom right of the thread, I get:

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=217678&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=10

And that's right. But note, that page is extremely wide, so you'd need to scroll to the right to get at the bottom right corner. ;)

Now, in a different thread, you collapsed it, because your last spreadsheet was missing the necessary closing HTML tags, so I removed that spreadsheet:

http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?p=1051099#1051099

That SID business doesn't help you; that should be a session ID, link without it. ;)

And, in the future, please, one thread per discussion. The Lounge is for light banter and chit-chat, this is the correct forum for questions about this forum. Thank you! :)
