Most common tasks in excel (basic, intermediate & advance level)

[FONT=&quot]I was wondering if anyone can create a list for me. Basically I am looking for someone to create a list of 30-40 most common tasks that are used in Excel. 10-13 tasks for each of the basic, intermediate and advance level.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]By that I just mean that of the 30-40 tasks you list, I want 10 or so of them to be basic level tasks, and 10-13 of them to be common intermediate level tasks, and 10-13 of them to be common advanced level tasks.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]For example,[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]-print spreadsheet (basic level)[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot] [/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]I don't want them all to be copy, paste, undo, etc. (I already know all of those)[/FONT]

Can you give more context to this question. Why do you want this information, and what are you going to do with it?

To create an Excel training tool YOU need to know Excel really well. Then, are you training absolute beginners or teaching advanced techniques to competent users. If it is for beginners, buy a copy of Excel for dummies as guidance. Start with how to add subtract multiply and divide, how to label columns and rows, how to find and replace, how to manipulate text. How to draw simple charts, then build things up by introducing the common functions eg IF, SUM, COUNT, COUNTIF

Hi fuzool, like oldbrewer said, in order for someone to be competent in excel they need to train by someone who knows alot about excel or the trainee won't learn much.

The list from VoG is ok, but if people don't know how to put formulas in cells they will struggle. I taught somebody who had never heard of spreadsheets for just 60 minutes, and he was able to calculate profits and losses on his share portfolio. He then learned more on his own.
