Lock-UnLock VBAProjects Programmatically without SendKeys

Hi all,

I Have recently written this piece of code so I just thought I would post it here for future reference should anyone be looking for vba code to lock\unlock a vbaproject programmatically without needing to use the unreliable SendKeys method.

workbook example

This code requires that the excel macro security setting "Trust access to the vba project object model" be checked... .Also, it is worth mentioning that this code is language-specific as it reads the VBE dialog captions. So this code won't work in Non-English editions of excel but, should be easy to adapt with some small changes.

The code was written and tested in excel 2016-64bit.

Jaafar, the code from post #25 doesn't work for me

I was joking a little, and a little seriously. The point is that not every project has the standard name "VBAProject". Many of my projects have individual names and in that case the code doesn't want to work together.
But...
Just change all the phrases "VBAProject Password" in the code to oProject.Name & " Password" and "VBAProject - Project Properties" to oProject.Name & " - Project Properties" and the code will start working properly.

The unlock code works even for VBA projects with incorrect password.
Here is an issue I am having, I am processing a folder with 5 files, they all have same password. I am programatically opening it, unlock it, check some items in the project and closing it.
The issue is that the code is able to unlock the project for the first file, after that it fails for all other projects.

Then there's the problem Jaafar mentioned earlier. In some language versions, window titles have names translated into the language. If this is the case, you need to manually correct the phrases I mentioned earlier, adjusting them to the language version before running the macro.
Or perhaps it would be possible, before attempting to unlock/lock the project, to first call a window, read the window title, back out of filling that window, and only then use it to unlock/lock? Only how to identify the called window if we don't know its title?
Just thinking out loud. No commitment.

The latest takeaways are a bit senseless. Since it would have been possible to identify the window other than by its title, there's no reason to close it, but to try to unlock/lock the project right away.
