Is it possible to print multiples of same form in one PDF?

Hello,

I have a form in Excel that has a "print then increment" button.
After printing it increments the number in C1.
For 40 pages of print I do the following process 40 times:
1- click the button.
2- rename the PDF generator file name to the next number.
3- Wait for print to complete.
Repeat from number 1.

Then I combine the files from 01 to 039 to form a single file.

Is it possible to specify the count of 40 and print them all in same PDF file by one click?

djreiswig,

I am not sure if this will take any less time than directly printing to PDF and combining them later with Adobe Acrobat.

My printed PDF files are located outside of the Excel while you bring them back to excel to be re-printed later.
Not an easy task. It maybe good if one does not have access to the PDF merger. It can be also done with Presentation or other packages.

The difference is that I do my combining with Adobe Acrobat or any other PDF maker outside Excel environment.

Sorry,
Not a good solution.
Unfortunately at this point no-one else will look at this thread.

Did I understand this properly?

Thank you for your time,
Harry

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
No, I am not talking about bringing your pdf's back into Excel.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you are doing. See if I follow what you are currently doing.

You have a sheet that has 2 pages. You edit some data on the sheet and then print the sheet to a pdf file. You then edit some data on the same sheet and then print it again to a different pdf file. You do this 40 times to make 40 separate 2 page pdf's. You then combine all of the pdf using an external program into one 80 page pdf. Is this correct?

What I am saying is that you could end up with one 80 page sheet in Excel with all of your data and then just print that single sheet to a pdf and you're done.

If I don't follow you, then please try to explain your process again.

You are correct on the process.

Except there is no editing since the form is automatic after I am done with editing it.

All I need to do is a change the page number in excel print with a modified filemname for PDF maker.

Repeat this for the remaining 39 pages.

Harry

So you set the form up and then print 80 pages with only one cell value different between each of the pages? This cell value increments by one for each page that is printed?

You said that each time you print is a front and a back. Is this page one and two? The next set would be 3 & 4.

This is a lot simpler than what I am doing.

What is the range of the sheet you are printing, and does it always stay the same number of rows/columns or does that change from time to time? Also, does the number of pages that you print change? And how is that determined?

You basically want to end up with your sheet printed 40 times with incrementing page number in one cell. And all that in a pdf file. Correct?

The controlling cell generates a sequence number and it affects the form by getting data from a table and populates the cells of that page.
Each sequence number is associated with 7 differnt values on the source.

ie:

1, The old man and the sea, $1.99, Red(since it is under $2)
2, war and Peace, $3.29 Green (since it is 2 or more)
3,.....

All I need to populate is the sequence number and get my labels printed.
The back side will have more info about the book.

There are 5 double sided labels per a letter sized paper.

Harry

I don't follow...

Can you make a sample file with dummy data and upload it somewhere so I can try and follow what you are doing? I think I could come up with something for you, but I can't figure out what you are doing.

I've never shared a workbook here, but I think others have used box.net. There are probably hundreds of file sharing sites out there. Just upload the sheet and either post the link here or PM me. If I have some simulated data, maybe I can see better what you are doing.
