Formula for if something = text

I have a formula but I'm not sure how to write "text" into it.


For example in cell A1 if text appears I want it to result in the answer in B2. for example"

=if(A1=text,1,2)

The use of the word "text" clearly is wrong so must be pretty simple to fix?
