Hi guys,

I had this summary that i wanted to sum-up automatically, using the account # as the reference. Here's the examples.

Sheet 2

311 = (sum of all account # starting 311)
315 = (sum of all account # starting 315)
318 = (sum of all account # starting 318)

Notice that only the first 3 digits is the basis for the computation.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
guys, are those formulas just for an specific range?Because the range that i will use varies depending to the # of accounts that has been downloaded. And, i am going to use it as a default so that every downloaded files will be pasted on the sheet1 then sheet2 will compute.
For example;

1st month
1-100 rows

2nd month
1-150 rows

if my formula is locked up to 1-100 rows, everymonth still i need to update the formulas.

but if theres no other way,though im happy with the formulas that uyou guys gave. Thanks

if you are working on the same sheet every month
you can Define Dynamic Name
===============
but if you are downloading new workbook you need to modify the range in this wrokbooks

yes same sheets ,then i'll just save it as save as to different file names every month

With any of the formulas, just make the range bigger than you are ever likely to need. For example, with my formula maybe ...

=SUMIF(A$2:A$2000,"<="&(D2*1000+999),B$2:B$2000)-SUM(E$1:E1)

If 2000 rows still isn't enough, make that number even bigger.

to Define Dynamic Range From Formula Tab --> Define Name

account =OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A:$A)-1,1)
Amount =OFFSET(Sheet1!$B$2,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$B:$B)-1,1)

now you are working with names account and Amount
which will resize the range depends on the Data in the Original ranges
