How to do data validation in sheet 1 and cell A4 if the list of Data is stored in a different sheet...lets say "Sheet2". So what I am asking is I have data in sheet 2 but I want to do data validation in sheet1.

Thanks

Started over with a clean workbook. Can now have multiple cells do Data Validation with the same Named Range.

It appears that Excel 2003 does not like changing the cell reference of a Named Range. Even deleting the Named Range, then adding again with the same name, is a problem.

Hanging Chad. HA!

Thanks,
S

If you do all that changing using Insert | Name | Define, all should work as expected.

I agree, but it does not.

I liken this problem to changing a macro, but the code not running. I have to copy/paste into a new macro. I also have to remove a QRY file from a cell, then add it back, after I edit the QRY file.

Something on this XP box, with Office 2003, is simply not updating behind the scenes.

There is a version of Name Manager (by Pieterse) available for 2003, which might help you namage the name spaces in your workbooks.

I suspect the fact that it was not working has something to do with relative and absolute references. Your original named range was probably using a relative reference.
