Hello everyone.

I need to conditionally shade a range based on the value of single cell.

See Image:

I need to shade g25:m30 based on the value of G28. (edit - was G26)

I have selected the entire block, went to conditional formatting and set up a formula based rule with =g28="QPM"

What is happening is only the upper left cell of the range is changed.

I've used conditional formatting many times but this one has me stumped and Google isn't being much help.

Im sure this is very simple.

Thanks!

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
You need to add $ to the cell reference. Conditional Formatting is smart, so if you have a multi-cell range, Excel will adjust your CF formula as if you were manually dragging it across/down the selected range.

Try this:

=$G$28="QPM"
