Hi All

I need a really simple way to highlight a cell based on the contents of another - but am getting confused.

In short - I need cell B9 to highlight red when:

  • B9 is empty and
  • N9 has data.

Also, I would like cell B9 to highlight orange when:
  • B9 has data and
  • N9 is empty

Both B9 and N9 data will be added manually - so will not be from a formula etc.

Can this be done? If so, how?

All the best, and thank you in advance.

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Try like this. I have applied the conditional formatting to B9:B12 so you can see the different effects of data in the two columns in question.

9xx
10xx
11
12xxxx
