Hi
Some advice please as I cannot get it to work
1) I want cell M4 to do the following, if possible, please:
i)If the date entered in cell M4 is equal to or less than the date in G5, then green colour and bold text
ii)If the date entered in cell M4 is greater than the date in G5, then red colour and italic text
iii)If there is no input in cell M4, then cell is yellow in colour (to indicate an input is required)

Excel Facts

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
you need 3 rules in conditional formatting

1) =$M4<=$G5
2) =$M4>$G5
3) =$M4 =""

you say M4 and compare to G5
is that what you mean
maybe its M3 and G3

can you confirm

Is it just the column M - or do you want to compare for all people columns H to m

setup as follows

for 2007, 2010 , 2013 , 2016 , 2019 or 365 Subscription excel version
Conditional Formatting

Highlight applicable range >>
M3:M100 - Change, reduce or extend the rows to meet your data range of rows

Home Tab >> Styles >> Conditional Formatting
New Rule >> Use a formula to determine which cells to format
Edit the Rule Description: Format values where this formula is true:
=$M3<=$G3

Format [Number, Font, Border, Fill]
choose the format you would like to apply when the condition is true
OK >> OK

repeat for the other 2 rules

otherwise
Therefore -

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. The sample layout accurately matches that of your real data. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

This will possibly enable a quicker and more accurate solution for you.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data and will allow us to copy/paste your sample data into our Excel spreadsheets, saving a lot of time.

You can also test to see if it works ok, in the "Test Here" forum.

OR if you cannot get XL2BB to work, or have restrictions on your PC

then put the sample spreadsheet onto a share

I only tend to goto OneDrive, Dropbox or google docs , as I'm never certain of other random share sites and possible virus.
Please make sure you have a representative data sample and also that the data has been desensitised, remember this site is open to anyone with internet access to see - so any sensitive / personal data should be removed

Make sure you set any share or google to share to everyone

if you have any issues with XL2BB, then the "About this Board" is the forum to ask questions about XL2BB
