I would like to be able to format a cell for time in hours and minutes with the user entering either only the numbers or numbers with the colon. I can do "0\:00" for number only entries, but not both ways.

Would also like to do the same in a numeric cell with thee decimal places

Thanks

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.

You realize, of course, that using that number format only makes the entry look like a time value, it does not make it an actual time value. If that is acceptable to you, then you could use this Custom Cell Format...

[>1]0\:00;h:mm
