Blank Excel 2013 worksheets

When I open an Excel file (Office 2013) the worksheets all display as empty worksheets. If I uncheck 'formula bar; under View, then the worksheets in the file all display normally. I can then re-check the formula bar view and everything is fine until I close and re-open Excel.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening and how to fix it (short of reinstall)?

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
