I use excel 2003 at my place of work and and currently experiencing this problem which only happens on some of the pc's at work others are ok.
If I select a cell e.g. [A1] and type for example 'h' then navigate using the arrow keys right it fills in cell [A1] as follows 'h+a2+a3+a4' instead of just selecting the next cell [A2]
Anybody have any ideas of what's happening.
I think some switch my have been activated but I don't know what.
Many Thanks in advance.

Then check out every code / add in that is running (as I advised earlier, implicitly).

Are there macros in Personal.xls, and so on.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Finally found the issue.
it was to do with scroll lock.
But it only happens if the sheet is started with scroll lock on.
If you turn scroll lock on when the sheet is already open then the sheet moves around the screen as expected.
If scroll lock is on and then open the sheet the cell referencing occurs.
I.e in cell (A1) type 'b' and then press right arrow key then cell (A1) will become 'b+A2' like a formula.
Pressing scroll lock stops this from happening.
Very strange, but still it's working now
