Anyway the question is: How do you get XL to sort blank cells to the bottom, not the top?

Google has not been my friend on this one, although there are a few highly complicated methods mentioned.

Hmmm...It should have placed a space character into the "Find What" field, but not UNTIL you released the ALT key following the 4-key entry. If it didn't work, then I guessed incorrectly, unfortunately. Bummer!
Larry.

Can you shed any light on this?

Thanks

Bob

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Bob, No trouble, but I've not yet run across a situation where this character is not displayed. If I enter the numbers from the top row of
my keyboard, it will not work. BUT if I use the numeric keypad over on
the right side of my keyboard, while the numlock is ON and the ALT
key is depressed...then when I release the ALT key - voila! That's
about all I can say 'bout it. I was guessing that your sort problem
may have involved such a character that, although it appears to be a
space character (either leading or trailing) in the string, it cannot be
removed with a clean or trim command. Such a character is typically
generated during "data dumps" from mainframe computers.
Larry.
