I have a pivot table in excel based on the Datamodel based on a SQL-database.

When I filter a column in the pivot table the datasource starts updating.
Why is this? Is there some way around it?

Great, I'm glad it's working. Power Pivot is still a bit flaky. It was great in 2010 and then when they went to 2013, they broke it. It's been pretty bad ever since. Definitely the pivot table can get out of sync with the data model, and the "add a column" trick forces it all to recalc. Regardless, I'm glad it's working now.
