Yes you should, another possibility is that one of the ranges isn't a spill range.

so this is actually the problem. Is there a way around this? my last range (Rental Equipment (BOM)'!B6#) is a data validation.

Then just remove the # sign.

but the column could have more than one value that needs to be stacked. in my current example I have 3 items but only 1 is stacking.

Then you need to specify the actual range.
