Hi and thanks for the help.

I have a list of names in column A and numbers in column D. I want to total up the numbers in column D after the last entry in column A or D and add the word total next to it in column C. See below please

Still trying to help. Can you edit the cell, copy what's inside and paste that here? Or take a screenshot of the formula bar when your cursor is on one of the total cells

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.

So, the link you're talking about, is that the green triangle next to each value? If so, it may be telling you that the cell is formatted as TEXT. You can change that to a number.

Easy way is to highlight the numbers, set the format to General or a number, then select DATA > Text to Columns > Finish.

Hi Jeff,

So it works except its adding "Total" to the first line of each name and changing the hours to 0 but still calculating the correct total. I would also like to a grand total at the bottom of the all the name totals.
