Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
That isn't quite the way it's done on the internet.

For images the larger image is usually stored somewhere on the server and for text it's really a section of HTML that's displayed.

So you would need to store images and some sort of shape/textbox for every part of the worksheet/workbook you wanted this to work for.

I suppose it could be done but it would take a lot of effort as far as I can see.

There would be nothing stopping you adding a textbox with the text you want using code.

All I'm saying is that to make it work for a whole worksheet could take a lot of work to do the formatting/sizing etc.

yes, you are right. your code is excellent. if there was a wa so that i could capture all the text in the cell, not just the text shown, it would be perfect.

What exactly will be in the cells?

The only other thing I can think of with the copy picture idea would be to copy the range to be displayed to another worksheet, do the formatting there etc.

Not sure if doing that is really worth it.:)

i have a matrix chart that is about 60 by 20. there is a lot of text in some of the cells, while others simply have numbers. i want to lightbox the cells that have text in them so that i can keep the chart small. a lightbox would allow the text to be easily read -- i.e. one double click lightboxes the text cell -- without comprimising the size and shape of the matrix chart.

I thought you had other data you wanted displayed.

The code I posted displays the content if the cell.

Is there more to it in your worksheet?

the code you posted only displayed the text that was initally visible. however, it did not display the text that was not visible -- i.e. when a cell with text is shrunk, not all of the text can been seen as some of it is hidden when the cell is shrunk. all of the text can then only be seen if the cell's height and width are adjusted, or if the formula bar is read.

your VBA, which was very clever and has potential, does not display the text that is not visible when a cell with text is shrunk.
