I am trying to create a spreadsheet that allows me to track how well our business is following its projected costs/profits on certain projects.

My spreadsheet is nearly complete, but it is large and cumbersome, so I want to create a key at the top that turns a cell red if there is a problem in any of perhaps ten references cells.

i.e. I want cell A2 to turn red if I have a negative number in any any of the following cells E8, G8, I8, K8, M8, O8, C81, F81, D106, F106, H106. The same condition <0 applies to all of these cells.

Is this possible, and how would I go about creating it?

I really appreciate anyone's help.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Create a new sample Workbook like the below table in the exact same cell range..

I used small range, example, but select cell A2, goto Cond/Formating.. Formula and in box enter:

=OR($C$4<0,$D$5<0,$C$7<0,$D$8<0,$C$10<0,$D$11<0)

Select Format.. Fill, Red

Close

Now Change Cell D8 to a negative value,
