I use autofit on a number of sheets with the same column headings all created from one master sheet .

I want to make sure that there is column width uniformity across sheets but need to find out what the maximum width of each column should be.

Is there a recognised way of doing this?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Try this macro:

VBA Code:
Sub column_width_uniformity()
  Dim sh As Worksheet
  Dim col As Range
  Dim cMax As Double

  Application.ScreenUpdating = False

  For Each sh In Sheets
    sh.Cells.EntireColumn.AutoFit
    For Each col In sh.Range("A1", sh.UsedRange).Columns
      If col.ColumnWidth > cMax Then
        cMax = col.ColumnWidth
      End If
    Next
  Next
  For Each sh In Sheets
    sh.Range("A1", sh.UsedRange).ColumnWidth = cMax
  Next

  Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
