I am a new Excel and I have set myself a task that has proved harder than first thought.

The formula that I need to get my head around is as follows:-

In column 1 start date, in column 2 review date three years later. Okay completed that.
However not all cells in column 1 have dates and dates in column 2 that go over three years, the cells need to change to red background colour.

So I receive random dates in column 2 and the cells do not turn red with my attempts.

Sorry, for you experts this must be simple, but for me it is frustrating.

Can anyone give me a working formula that I can use.

Thanks and regards

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Use conditional formatting in Review Date

Alan,

Thanks you for your help your suggested solution works a treat.

Could I ask for your help again? The simple date transfer worked until I started adding blank cells in column one, (my date column), which then gave problem dates within column 2. Have you a solution for these problem dates I am having?

I have decided to find some courses available near me to provide me with a total refresher as I have forgotten a lot and things have moved on. Rather than bugging people with questions to possibly simple solutions.

Whatever happens, thanks again.

regards
