why are times given in EDT whatever that is. surely it would be better to use gmt/utc/zulu everyone knows how far behind or in front of gmt they are,even ms os uses gmt
 
EDT = Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4).

The website is hosted in Pennsylvania, hence why they are using EDT.
 
and?..just because they are there the rest of the world isn't that's why a standard is set.
 
I would assume that the majority of the community comes from the US. I'm sure if they used GMT then there would be someone from the US complaining just like you are.
 
so why isn't time set to some us standard then?there are somethings the us of a don't control.

It's the default setting. Can't you go under the Settings and change it to whatever you want it to be?
