Hello All.
I have been on this for hrs, completely done my head in,, any advise greatly apreciated.
I have a sheet with column H & I I want to be able to show a tick or a cross in, if the assigned list shows either a YES or a NO.
I just cant get it to work.
(I did originally try windings, I just couldn't get it to work,, the dropdown list continued to show funny characters), so no joy with this method,, and don't want a VBA solution if I can help it.

Please view image,,, it's really stumped me.

I attach a simple sheet also,

All I want to do, is if the word YES is selected in cell H2, it will display a nice green tick, via icon set if possible under conditional formatting.
Please, someone show me the light!
I'm going crazy here.

Many thanks in advance
a very frustrated

Excel Facts

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Many thanks for both your replys!!
yes Fluff,,, now it works!!

I copied your tick and cross from post 7,, font is Calibr,,, now its working!!
Great,, but how?
How did you do that??? What's special about these in post 7,, that I've tried a load of windings,, and none would show a tick or cross in the list menu!!
Clever stuff Fluff!! Brilliant

I've been trying for ages on my PC,,
4 hrs!! :-(

Thanks as well TonyUK72.
Yes, I do have Marlett, but I don't really want a vBA solution. I'll try again your idea Tony, but I'm going to stick with fuff's solution.
My head is spinning now! It's driven me crazy.

Just 1 last question now though,,,,,
With the tick working fine in the dropdown,,,, how can I use conditional formatting for this?
So I can make the ticked cell have a green background, and red for cross?
==============
Conditional Formatting/New Rule/Format only cells than contain/specific text/containing/=DropDowns!$A$1
(For Tick)
Conditional Formatting/New Rule/Format only cells than contain/specific text/containing/=DropDowns!$A$2
For Cross
==============
Is this correct way to format it Fluff/Tony?

Seems to work.

Many thanks to you both.

I need a tea!!

Those characters are part of the "Segoe UI Symbol" font and whilst I don't know what's special about that font, Excel likes them.

The CF you've mentioned should work fine

PS, whilst I'm here,
if you do fancy a challenge, I was trying to get a calculator off the ground here;
https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/1081609-recovery-drawdown-calculator.html

No ones cracked it yet, but hell, just thought I'd mention it as you are a wizard here for sure.
Thanks again,,, so so hard searching on google for answers,, with the hardest part being knowing how to phrase the right question to get webpages/youtube videos for answers. I've had a nightmare day today with this! So thanks again

Have a great evening Fluff,, and thanks also TonyUK
Off for a tea :-)
A very grateful
