i have a question ... i have an assignment to do and this is what it asked me to do.
Create a Summary worksheet containing:
Total Costs and Total Profits for A course
Total Costs and Total Profits for B course.
use the SUMIF function to calculate these costs

how do i use SUMIF?? i mean i can probably just use SUM function to calculate it ... but the course guide ask me to use SUMIF ... anyone ?

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
i dont quite understand the excel help. cuz using the SUMIF function .. it'll sum up the figures if i put something for the function to compare ... but the thing is ... i have nothing to compare ... and i can only use the SUM function to total up the costs and profits. so it's either my course guide is telling me to put the wrong function or ... theres something for me to put in my sheet in order for the SUMIF to lookup to

Care to provide 10 rows of data which you're supposed to summarize per course?

Could you give a little more info on how your sheets are laid out?

Since you are creating a summary sheet, I assume you have a bunch of data on another sheet? You would use SUMIF on your summary sheet and it would reference the data on the other sheet.
