BudgetCategory Employee ID Employee Wages Wage Wages
Hrs Amount Hrs Amount Hrs Amount
DPP 25 Jon 5 500 5 400 5 600

I would like to sum all the amounts for employees that are in the DPP category. Can someone give me formula? I have multiple budget categories and need an easier way to SUM.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).

Why did you repeat your question?
Did you try SUMIF?
The link I provided shows actual examples of how to do that.

You cannot post your data like that. It is unreadable.
There are tools you can use to post screen images. They are listed in Section B of this link here: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/board-a...forum-use.html.

Also, there is a Test Here forum on this board that you can use to test out these tools to make sure they are working correctly before using them in your question.

If you are looking for a summary of ALL different categories, and don't want to create separate Excel formulas for each one, take a look at using Pivot Tables or Subtotals.

If you Google "creating pivot tables in Excel", you will find many different tutorials you can view to do this (including some YouTube videos).
You can do the same for Subtotals (Google "creating subtotals in Excel").

is there a way for me to post a pic of my spreadsheet to see if you can give me a formula?
I posted that in reply number 4 above.

But did you even look at my link for SUMIF? It shows you exactly how to create that formula. It is very straightforward.

I was hoping this thing would let me post a example photo so I could explain better....I am also trying to incorporate a vlookup along with sumifs. I know how to use those formulas together but not in this particular case.
