Sum formula

Hey everyone I have a simple formula I'm having trouble getting to work.

I only want to add cells with negative numbers if it has the word paypal or bkcd however its returning a 0 value

Correct output should be -4

This works. Only one small modification. There will be positive number that also have text paypal. So need rule that this formula will only calculate negative numbers.

Which formula did you use?

You did not answer the questions. We may be able to provide a good answer if you provide clear examples and expected results.


Are the numbers in text cells always negative?
Are all numbers in text cells to be included?
What total do you require?
Are the numbers single digits?

Sorry I used this formula =SUM(SUMIF(B29:B32,{"paypal","bkcd"},A29:A32))

No the numbers are positive and negative.
Only negative numbers are to be calculated
The numbers are multiple digits.

The above formula worked find but just needs that variation to only calculate negative numbers.

=SUM(SUMIFS(A29:A32,A29:A32,"<0",B29:B32,{"paypal","bkcd"}))

will pick out negative numbers only.
