Sum/Count of cells that meet two criteria in two seperate columns.

I'm trying to figure out a way to count the number of times items fall under certain conditions based off data from two columns. I've tried DCOUNT, DCOUNTA, COUNTIF, SUMIF formulas and arrays but have had no success. Example is below. Any help would be appreciated and thanks.

For Excel 2003

Using the same data:

Item Condition Count
Keyboard Good 1
Keyboard Good 1
Bluetooth Good 2
Bluetooth Good 2
Router Poor 3
Router Good 1

and same formula:

SUMPRODUCT(--(A2:A7="Keyboard")*(B2:B7="Good"))

can the formula be made to search for a word if the spelling has additional characters?
If "Keyboard" now has extra characters.

example

Item Condition Count
Keyboardx Good 1
Keyboardq Good 1
Bluetooth Good 2
Bluetooth Good 2
Router Poor 3
Router Good 1

Either:

=SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Keyboard",$A$2:$A$7)),--($B$2:$B$7="Good"))

Or:

=SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH(E2,$A$2:$A$7)),--($B$2:$B$7=F2))

where E2 = keyboard and F2 = good.

Tried it out...the cell with the formula returns 0.

Would it possible to attach a spreadsheet to show the scenarios I tested?
If not, here's the set-up...

2014 goodx
2013 done
2014 good good
2014 LP | good
2014 good
=SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH(D15,$A$11:$A$14)),--($B$11:$B$14=E15))

*was looking for "3" to get returned...there are 3 instances of "2014" in column D [which is a number] and the word "good" in column E.
not sure what I'm plugged in wrong?

I'm having a hard time to understand what the source data is and what is the result output.
Would you repost both, stating the exact ranges involved?
