I want to use a subtraction formula that doesn't refer to cell references...the normal way in cell D9 =C9-B10. Is there another way with out the cell references (C9 and B10) maybe an offset or something other that would be in cell D9?

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi,

If the relative cell references remain the same and you just copy and paste the formula it will then refer to the new references, Using your example above:

in cell D9 =C9-B10

copy the formula from D9 to D10 and you will have =D9-B11

Cant understand why this wouldn't wotk, maybe it's too late over here?/

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Here's an example of my worksheet:
If I insert a new row, Row 2, below Row one to input the daily numbers and copy another row the cell references get messed up. Any ideas to make this easier would be greatly appreciated.
