Stop excel workbook from opening

I'm using excel 2016. I needed to import data from another computer that uses excel 2007. I used the import wizard and the data was imported as needed. The problem is now whenever I open excel or another workbook, a workbook also opens that has the data I imported. Why does this workbook continue to automatically open? Can it be stopped?

Thanks
Tom

No external connections. I thought uninstalling excel from the other computer would work but the workbook is still present. Like its embedded in windows somewhere.

Thomas, I've not seen the exact scenario you have, but another area where old pasted data can hang around and cause problems is the Name Manager in the Formulas tab. You can easily see any errors there as they show as REF. If this doesn't help I hope you are able to resolve your issue soon. Very frustrating.
