Statistical analysis on Excel

Hi there,

I am doing a medical research project using excel based data, and was wondering if it is possible to perform simple stats on excel without using SPSS?

I am looking at two knee prothesis, the attune and PFC. The PFC is the standard knee that was used by the surgeon at my site, and he has recently changed to attune. The table above lists the values for both knee pre and postoperatively as scores out of 100 (a standardised orthopedic outcome score was used)
What I am interested in finding out is- does the attune knee offer IMPROVED outcomes over the PFC knee.
From what I understand so far i think the paired t test will give me information within each population, i.e, does the PFC knee offer improved outcome potop Vs preop.
How should I go about comparing the two types of knee?

Just did Paired t test two sample for means on each of the populations, i.e pre/post PFC sf12 scores and pre/post WOMAC sf12.

1) What does mean 28 >> 31 in the first Attune record? That is, how do you interpret these scores?
2) Do the operations involve the same patients?
3) If the answer to [2] is no, are the patients matched, that is, are they comparable on the relevant aspects such as age, gender, severity, etc.?
