Hi,

I have a list with +/- 9.000 cells in 1 column filled with numbers.

Is it possible to sort this numbers in groups.

Example:

0 - 500 = 4.500
501 - 1.000 = 4.500
etc

or

0 - 500 = 50%
501 - 1.000 = 50%
etc

Thanks

I can't find a group option anywhere??

Let's say that in my list i have only 50 numbers under 499. 50 x the number 18. Now in the PivotTable i have only 1 x 18.

So in the list 0-499 it will give me 1? is that right?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
What happens when you right-click the row labels in the pivottable?

If you have 50 x 18, then 0-499 will give you 50. But you should be getting a count per number already ... are you not seeing that?

Do you mean right-click in the header of the column or right-click in the rowlabels area of the PivotTable properties?

If i right-click on the header of the column then i get several different options but nothing to group.

right-click:

Copy
Properties
Renew
Options for PivotTable
Hide list

I checked the Prperties and Options fot PivotTable but couldn't find the group option.

Maybe someone else on here with Excel 2010 can shed some light on this. ( it sounds like the options you'd get in Excel 2007 if your row labels are empty )

Re: Sort numbers to groups with Pivot Table

ok thanks for your help.

I just want to check if it's right that before i make the Pivot Table i only have 1 column (A) with numbers. Because in your example there's also a column C. Dit you make that before the Pivot Table or was it created by the Pivot Table?

Re: Sort numbers to groups with Pivot Table

The stuff from column C is the PivotTable I made, to show that it does exactly what you want.
