Something is stopping me from sorting more than 5,000 rows

Something is stopping me from sorting more than 5,000 rows in my Excel table. I think that it has something to do with the settings shown to the left of my column of row numbers. What is the function of these +/- grouping, and how do I eliminate or change them. I'm assuming

that I'll then be able to do a proper sort.
