I have just noticed that you are not downloading the files for the "Slaying the Dragon" book but appear to be downloading the 2010 start file for the Excel Basics series.
That is not a zipped file but is an Excel .xlsm file.
Excel .xlsx and .xlsm files are in fact "zip" files containing files and folders - you are actually looking inside the Excel workbook.
You should download it as .xlsm and open it as such.

Thanks Derek....is works now.
While downloading from the website this time >replaced "excelisfun-Start.zip" which is the default with "excelisfun-Start.xlsm".This .xlsm file is has a "!" ie exclamation logo ...is that ok? But the file open with all the workbooks.

The exclamation indicates that it contains macros/vba code.
Just remember that in one of the 6 files in your list there is a 'real' zip file (products).
