simple formula

this is so easy its stupid that I have to post here but for some reason I cant get it to work.

=IF(SUM(F37)>0,SUM((F37*F38)+F37),"")

the above adds a % to the total, I need cell F38 SUBTRACTED from cell F37 for my total amount in cell F39

I am getting a #value! error on the formula

=IF(F37>0,F37-F38,"")

I meen its simple, Subtract cell 38 from 37 and give me the total in cell 39. why would I get that error?

What are your values in F37 and F38? Are they generated from a formula (if so, what are their formulas?)

=IF(SUM(F37)>0,SUM(F37)-SUM(F38),"")

the value in 37 is a subtotal of cells above it in dollar amount. value in cell 38 is a dollar amount (discount varies) that I want subtracted from cell 37 IF I enter an amount, cell 39 is the total after subtracting 38 from 37. Im going to try that formula just was posted after yours and see if it works.
