I have the following:

TABLE A
- Amount
- Date

TABLE B
- Amount

Table B has a list of amounts which really should have Today as Date

how do I create a union query in order to do that?
I guess I need something like:

select amount, date from A
union select amount, today() from B

however I haven't managed to find out what the exact syntax is

Profuse apologies Norrie, I figured that it was just a typo, but thought it best to point it out in case the OP used it and got errors. No offense intended.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
thanks to all of you, I've solved the problem :)

sorry for the confusion, all I actually needed to know was that you can do SELECT NOW()
I had tried select today() which hadn't worked...
