Hello all,

I have a problem that I cant find an easy way to explain so I'll post a picture.
groups.jpg

I'm using:
- Windows XP
- Excel 2007

What I need is a secondary (visual) grouping of columns in the graph.
As seen on the picture as "Group1", "Group2" and "Group3"

The values on Y axis dont matter, but they do on the X axis.
Group1 needs to be from 0 - 400
Group 2 from 400 - 700 for instance
etc.

Ty in advance! And let me know if I broke any forum rules. I did a search for my problem but due to english not being my first language I have some problems googling the right question for this problem!

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
You are welcome.

For the first example, just setup your data as shown with blanks between groups, then highlight entire data set and make your chart.

For a harder technique, but still NO VBA, you can group the charts by adding 3 XY Series to your column chart, then add labels and then delete the labels you don't want, then moving the label to the right spot.

Looks like this. I will post a video and step-by-step tutorial on how to do this tomorrow.

3 XY series OVER it I guess. Looks just what I need. I'll mess around a bit with it. At least I know now which way to work at it.

TY!

You are welcome. The XY Series are an XY Series with Straight Lines. Also, the 3 series are part of the graph, not technically OVER it. They are part of the chart.
