[Request] Special BB code for formula!

xenou

It's not turned off.

<less than.

I think there's something going on.

I was only able to get the < after editing and saving the post a few times, which I had to to in Test forum too.

Never had a problem in the main forum.

Actually it wasn't editing and saving, it was Go Advanced & Preview.

That might be a "bug" - I always avoid preview whenever I use html character entities because sometimes in preview they are converted ... which might be what happened here. If so, it would mean that preview is parsing the text but when submitted the software doesn't (which is a little disingenuous I'd say...)

Note:
I always avoid preview whenever I use html character entities because sometimes in preview they are converted ...
I should say, sometimes in the past I have found they were converted in preview. But I never could figure out the rule exactly and I haven't noticed it for a while ... Maybe there's a specific set of circumstances where that might occur but I'm not sure.

Does the following not work?
[noparse]FormulaHere[/noparse]

It appears not to protect against less than/greater than signs. I think noparse only looks for bb code tags.

OK. At one point I had put this check in my signature but then I started using "forum recommended part" in my signature.

I think this will be one more point for me to ponder about:
Confusion of php code with formula
