Rank or Occurance type questions

I have a column that has duplicates, is there a way to put a formula next to the items that tells if its the first time a duplicate appears in the list?

ABC (First Time or 1)
CDF (First Time or 1)
ABC (Second Time - or 2)
EFG (First time - or 1)
GHI (First time - or 1)
ABC (Third time - or 3)
