This is one of the intermediate tutorials from Excel 2013.
Hi all, I am trying to subtract from C7 to B8 to get how long it took in decimal numbers. However, I keep getting an error -- #VALUE!
I might have typed/formatted the dates or time in an incorrect way or something. I would be appreciate your help to figure it out.

what country are you in ?
mm/dd/yyyy should be OK - I'm UK - hence the DD/MM
also where you have
########
the cell width is to small - make the column wider

i changed the custom format to

mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm AM/PM

I live in Canada. Ahh, I forgot about that width thing. Again, thank you very much. Such a pleasure to have your help as I am learning it by myself.

Check your System's Regional Settings

Choose the setting that your prefer for Dates.

If part of your challenge was to convert hours to something like 6.5, ensure that you read the suggestion in post #9.

I'm sorry I have not replied to you sooner! Question 1: Click in the 1st row in your date column. Press Ctrl shift & down arrow at the same time. Then, press the Ctrl 1 at the same time. Then, click the "Number" heading at top left. Then click Custom. In the Type zone type: mm/dd/yyyy. Question 2: Just increase your column width. I hope this will help you!!!
