Good morning. I have moved a spreadsheet from one networked server to another. On the old server, when I saved the file I got no progress bar. On the new server, saving the same spreadsheet displays a progress bar for a half second or so.

What would cause that? The new server should be significantly faster.

Are the servers in the same datacenter/location? Even though the server is faster, there may be network latency causing a slightly slower response.

They're side by side. I wonder if anti-virus software on the new server would cause it.

It could be a number of other things...like you said, possibly Antivirus, in addition to DNS servers in use, AD for Authentication, etc. Can you do a traceroute to each of the servers and see how many hops each are taking, as well as the time to complete each?

When saving to these servers do you use the IP address or host name? If you use host name, try tracert with that.
