Hopefully this is a small problem! While trying to insert a number in a cell, all I get is a # sign. I have tried making the cell larger but no success. I also have tried formatting in number and also in general. Help please!

Thanks-
Dan

5. Are you entering the number in say A1, but you have a formula in D1 that refers to A1. And D1 is where the formatting issue is happening?

I checked the formatting that would apply to the the cell and the cell in question is formatted with a count formula. In other words I'm trying to insert a number in D4 and in H4 the formula is to count the times in all of the cells.

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
OK, now we're getting somewhere...

1. A formula is NOT formatting....
A cells format is when you click Format - Cells, or right click the cell and choose "Format Cells"

2. The formula in cell H4 CANNOT, and Will Not "Pull in" the formatting from D4.
The format of H4 is completely independant of the format in D4.
The value entered in D4 AND formatting of D4 will in no way effect the formatting of H4.

Hope this helps clear it up.

Maybe that's my problem! I'll give it a try! I really do appreciate your time and effort with me. Have a great day!
