I am using powerpivot, sometimes with powerquery cleaning the data beforehand and at some point, i lose powerpivot functionality and data. In other words, my once 24M file is reduced down to a 1.4K file and i have to start all over. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what was the resolution?

32 bit or 64 bit excel. how about the operating system and windows version. If you have 32 office on a 64 bit machine, anything over 3Gb memory isn't utilised, but you can install Desktop Power BI for free and use all installed 64 bit memeory

I have 64-bit version and am reluctant to get the error message to appear with the risk of losing the work I've completed thus far. I can keep you updated when I can get some bandwidth in order to replicate the issue which has appeared at the most inopportune time.

Not sure if mine is the same thing... I'm on 64-bit Office 365.

I occasionally have Excel crash when I've entered a measure and the model is updating. When I restart Excel all the PowerPivot and PowerQuery menu options are gone. I have to reboot.

My only workaround is to save frequently and not accept the attempt to reconstruct the file when I first go into Excel after the reboot, going back to the last version that I saved. I lose some work obviously. I always blamed my poor measure-writing skills.

sounds familiar. i took out the power query step and it hasn't happened as frequently but still makes me wonder when it will happen again. I do the same, save multiple files of the same version periodically.
