In previous days, I imported a folder of csv files into Power Query and then used the Excel.Workbook function to extract the data and to promote headers. But all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. Did they change it?

Anyway...What is the function that I can use to get the data and promote headers for csv files and/or tab delimited files. I am trying to keep the name of the file with the data. If I just download the data, the file name disappears. Thank you!!

What I am trying to do is to extract the files, but to retain the file name, too. I thought that I could use the Excel.Workbook to do this, but it doesn't work. Thank you so much!

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
could you post a link to these 3 csv files via DropBox (if there is no any TopSecret data) ?

and

One is csv and the other is tab-delimited. They both have fictitious data within them. Thank you!!!

Beautiful...thank you...

So, Excel.Workbook doesn't work on csv or tab delimited files? Is there a replacement function that would do the same thing?

it doesn't work on both together (different delimiters) but as you can see we can cheat this :ROFLMAO: ?

...but it doesn't work on one or the other, either...I kept getting an error.

Yes, you did each one separately, but what was the function that you used to replace Excel.Workbook?

Again, I want to thank you for your generosity in time and expertise. I so appreciate it.

on the left side you've Queries, expand it and you will see steps and functions then you can use Advanced Editor and see how it works
