Post Excel 2003 Menubar Thoughts 6 years later

So Excel 2013 has already been released which continues the ribbon from 2010 and 2007. When 2007 was released there was a lot of controversy around mandating that the Ribbon replaced the Menubar.

Now that it's 6 years after Excel 2007's release. Do you still feel the same about the Ribbon replacing the Menu Bar? Is it better, worse, or the same since time has gone by?

Excel Facts

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
In my experience most of the pain came from "Where did they put that?", and the inability in 2007 to easily modify the ribbon layout.
Given that most of the shortcuts and Alt-keys still work, and 2010 brought the ability to customise the ribbon, most of the pain has gone. I like the ribbon now, because I'm used to it. But each application that switches across to the ribbon causes its own little piece of pain. Example: Outlook 2010 -- to send/receive is always 2 clicks, because the Home tab always goes to the back once you have clicked the button. I could put it on the QAT I guess, but haven't found one yet (maybe my eyesight aint what it used to be...)

That's not my experience. Presumably it is a difference in some Outlook setting rather than a fait accompli.
If Home goes to the back, what comes to the front?

Haven't found what - the QAT or the Send/Receive when you try to customize?
I certainly have Send/receive on my Outlook QAT.

In relation to the thread topic: I would still prefer the 2003 style tool bar. I liked how simple it was to modify and have what I wanted to hand when I needed it.

Sure, there are many more options in the later versions but most of those extra options I'm not interested in and would prefer if it was easier to hide them away most of the time.

I'll go play with the settings, and see what's been changed...
And set up the QAT as well.

The 2003 style was easier to modify but I like the contextual tabs. I agree though, much of what is currently on the main ribbon is stuff I don't use. That is where the shortcuts come in...

I have both Office 2003 and Office 2010 installed on my system, mainly because together they cover almost all of the issues people seeking help in different forums/boards use. That's so I can confirm that whatever advice I give on menu/ribbon selections and any code I write is applicable to the user's platform. I find I can happily switch between versions, though I do admit that I ordinarily use Office 2010 for my own work (and for most of the forum help I provide). There are still some areas where Office 2003 is superior, macro recording being one of them.
